a superb neo-noir film with the intellect, humor, and heart of the coen’s at every twist and turn. i was invested in the narrative from the start; the script is immensely strong, as are all supporting performances. beautiful cinematography and music make for a lasting experience
Jacob Hall is "meh" onMiller's CrossingI didn't think it was terrible, but for Coen standards it's weak. The story doesn't do enough to keep me interested throughout. It doesn't have any of the iconic out of place character types the Coen brothers are known for. Just an average thriller at best

Heart may be what the movie needs most, but a bit of clarity wouldn't hurt either. Even here in gangsterland, where random characters are cherished and non sequiturs are considered wisecracks, there is a difference between complications and impenetrability, and this plot is a bloody thicket..
