Imagine spending your whole life looking for someone and, deep down, never regret it, this is the most brutal, but at the same time beautiful form of love
noenJul 12, 2021Art imitating life, and life imitating art. Easily one of cinema’s most tenderhearted love letters.
sanDec 4, 2014A dense quasi-montage of a film that captures the history of Japanese cinema, the romance of celebrity, and an existentialist appreciation of the journey in a beautifully animated series of flashbacks, this film is the confluence of reference and reverence. It has a respect…

A wonderful story, emotional message, and told through quite the creative approach. This movie is a poem brought to life.

No no noo, why?? I'd say it was something like love at first sight, which she chased in hopes of finding him, but it having been hopeless from the beginning... And her actress career is what happened while trying to find him😭 This made me sob, because it was so heartbreaking 💔

8.6/10 this was a gorgeous film abt what it’s like to wander through life - such a beautiful story formatted so interestingly that you cannot get bored for even a second - the imagery was so powerful and conveyed so much emotion and passion
Looking up the director and seeing that he's no longer with us is devastating to see. This is the 3rd of his 4 feature films, and they're all so impactful with great characters always. The ending is sad but also has an amazing final line.

Pretty damn incredible. The ending I think is one where like 50% of people will like it. If you do end up enjoying it, it will destroy you.
The influence of such a story is beyond description. This is what you get when your passionate about what you, thank you Kon.
