alex garland has made three movies about women in a row and i can't help but find it weird that his entire conception of womanhood is just about being abused and traumatized. annihilation pivots on a scene where a character lists the various traumatic histories of each of…

Even if you don't get it all, think on it. Remarkable to discuss. Or don't even try to think on it and claim it's stupid. Guessing the latter will prevail, sadly.

This movie definitely had potential in the beginning to the middle but then started to get confusing and not make any sense. The last 30 min are boring, weird and not entertaining at all. Do yourself a favor and watch something else.

It's going for something interesting, but falters with a wacky sequence towards the end.

Men is a horror film operating largely under nightmare logic and allegorical rumbling, and in a broad sense can’t offer many true surprises.

In a way, it’s almost worth recommending Men for the first 70 minutes. At that point, a quick exit would preserve the illusion that this is some sort of modern horror classic. For those who stick around, however, the final assessment isn’t likely to be nearly as favorable.

The film is organic, all of a piece and, for Garland, somewhat on the nose and didactic. It’s also haunting in ways you can’t easily categorize.
