the director clearly had a thing for jessica's gods sculpted side profile he gets me
ireneDec 29, 2023Memory left me a little unsure how to unpack the story here. Jessica Chastain plays Sylvia, a 13 years sober, single mother, who is followed home by a man after attending a high school reunion. The man, Saul (Peter Saarsgard), turns out to be suffering from dementia and…
Kevflix And ChillFeb 20, 2024Jessica Chastain always delivers the most authentic and stunning performances. I don’t know if there’s an actress currently that I get more excited to watch than her, she’s so graceful and complex in her acting. This film is very depressing, it’s got a coldness and…

Franco continues to be a fascinating filmmaker with another odd drama about two broken people - one who can’t remember and one who remembers too much. Good stuff.
Brian TallericoSep 10, 2023so well acted and a lot of good location shooting on the subway
David SimsFeb 9, 2026Franco is such a fascinating, odd, and subdued film director. Lite Haneke. Franco's camera placement is so closed-in, constantly pushing the characters into their environment. Small rooms, couches, chairs, and tables, everything feels like an interrogation space where you…

i admire Michel Franco's dedication to making Michel Franco movies (and to filling them with excellent performances)
davidehrlichSep 10, 2023MEMORY is a gut wrenching drama from Michel Franco that tackles heavy traumatic issues. Very restrained in its approach with complex characters, which allows Jessica Chastain & Peter Sarsgaard to deliver some phenomenal work. Surprisingly, it might also be his least cynical…
Matt NegliaMay 16, 2026i dig Franco's style a lot - austere, minimalistic, stripped down to the basics. a classic tragedy in pure form. his stories are always unique, even if it doesn't feel like a million bucks. he's working with space, camera, movements - but remains in the background, stays…

Horrendously boring. The story was disturbingly awful, the acting was mediocre, the visuals and sounds were plain, the pace was painstakingly slow, and it wasn't worth the watch. I kept waiting to feel attached. Don't get me wrong, I love Jessica Chastain, but not even she could save this. Took me…
A painful story that goes far beyond the themes of dementia, covering also parenting, alcoholism, child abuse, rape and familiar relationships. However, the theme that most stood out to me was the one of freedom. The freedom of living a life regardless of what troubles it

Interesting subject matter. good acting. the ending left the plot unresolved.
BBBrandi BestWas an interesting film. Ending was disappointing but was good overall
JGJerri GRUNEWALDVery slow moving, but interesting twist near the end where a deep seated issue gets revealed. We now have 2 “broken” people finding solace in one another.

Great cast. Profound storytelling centered on the fragility of our memories, mental health & sobriety struggles, resilience and finding support wherever it may be. Blood doesn't always know best.
TST SalesMovie was too sad & depressing. Great acting
MGMichael GibsonOverall, Memory is a beautifully crafted and emotionally resonant film that will stay with you long after the credits roll. It's a powerful reminder to cherish the moments we have and to live each day to the fullest, even in the face of loss.

This movie was pretty dark. Love the content dealing with past trauma and remembering the past. Actors were great, but the movie could have been better, and ending was disappointing.
WDWhitney DelgadoThe movie was good, albeit slow. I wish there was a better ending that gave you more answers. The acting was top notch and definitely addresses some though topics.
RBrachel brownGreat movie, keeps you interested the entire time. ending was not what I had thought or hoped it would be. but overall a great movie.
