Atom User Reviews for Mary Poppins Returns
Anyone who hates this movie is in need of a spoonful of sugar
My version of hell will be; I’m trapped in a theater while this movie plays on the loop for eternity.
This movie was the best I have seen this month. Remind your kids that the theater is a place to watch a movie not a jungle gym. Kids were walking around and making noises and talking. This movie was great. You probably will love this movie. It deserves a award. C-ya
I was transported back to my living room where I watched the original. The cast and music were perfection.
This film just makes me HAPPY
I'm a huge fan of Mary Poppins and was a little skeptical of this on, but it was great. It was as mesmerizing as and awe inspiring as the first Mary Poppins. It was great and does not need to be seen in Dolby Atomos to enjoy.
My daughters and I loved this movie. The cast was great. The music, costumes and scenes were amazing. I was very pleased that the movie was true to the Mary Poppins I watched as a child while also bring new and original. This is must see!
One of the most amazing movies I have seen this year. Emily Blunt played Mary of so well she was "Practically Prefect in Every Way"
I think Emily Blunt did a fantastic job as Mary Poppins. the storyline was sweet and the kids were adorable. Just wish they would have done at least one original song. Definitely recommend to watch!
I fell asleep but my family enjoyed it.
Kids liked it but I was fallen asleep at times
Great great movie
Very good for family. Rare clean movies anymore. Songs not as catchy as the first. Not like' a spoon full of sugar' and' supervalsfragalisticsupercalidosious' 50 plus years later and us old kids still remember those tones
Left the theatre not rescaling or humming any of the sounds. Quite forgettable!
good move. can't compare to original
Simply a fantastic, wonderful movie. Great music and performances by Miranda and especially Blunt.
So creative and magical! Literally all the feels and so so well done! I loved the subtle musical hints of the original hits like toupins a bag and let's go fly a kite! Emily Blunt is a wonderfully original Mary Poppins and beautiful! Lin Manuel is what leery dreams are made of! And Meryl Streep? Simply a hoot! 10/10 recommend!!
GREAT POPPINESS FEELIN. LIN MANUEL IS GREAT SON OF VAN DYKE ALSO GREAT.. THE MUSIC ALSO GREAT. MUST SEE AGAIN.
Just awesome
Thos movie was so much fun! I smiled the whole way through. The music, animation, acting, choreography, costuming, visual effects, etc were all so good! If you like the original, or like old-school musicals, I highly recommend it.
Loved it! Emily Blunt was perfect as Mary Poppins! The whole family enjoyed it a lot. It’s a must see!
Took me back to when I was a kid 😊
Boring
it was fabulous
Fun for the whole family!
Even though the iteration of Mary Poppins doesn't quite capture the same magic as the original, it still encapsulates the same wonder and fun. Cast was great especially Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Possibly better than the original!
loved it!!!
Loved how they referenced the original
Loved it from beginning to end!! Practically perfect in every way!!! :-)
practically perfect in every way! a great continuation of the Mary Poppins story!
This was such a great Emily Blunt film
Hit all the right notes, had the whimsy I wanted. Wish the story had been slightly tweaked. I loved the A Cover is Not the Book Vaudeville number.
Fun movie. If you’re a fan of the original, you will like this return of Mary Poppins. All new music and story.
Big Mary poppins fan and loved this as much as the first
I freaken loved it! So worth going more than once. It’s just as good as the original one. Love that they didn’t try to redo it.
Emily Blunt nailed it! Will watch again!
practically perfect in every way!

This movie was great for people of all ages. It had a special magical touch that was worth wild.
Such a cute film. Has all the feels of the first one and with an equally amazing cast!
Loved it
It was so cute and funny everyone enjoyed it
Everything from the amazing cast to the choreography to the storyline was perfect! A perfect sequel to the original. It’s hard to beat the original but this one rose to the occasion!
Great follow up to one of the best movies ever!
great soundtracks
Excellent movie for the kids.
So good!!!
Great family movie. Loved it!!
This was our second time to the theater to see this movie. We loved so much
Metacritic
For me, the moment where it all came together was during Blunt’s haunting rendition of The Place Where Lost Things Go, a heartbreaking lullaby that has something of the spine-tingling melancholy charm of Feed the Birds. Watching this sequence, I noticed I had started crying, and realised that I was safe – the movie’s spell was working and the magic was still here.
It’s well crafted, well acted, and features some terrific live-action/animation combos. But it never quite achieves liftoff, which is a big problem for a musical – especially this musical.
Some of the numbers are dazzling, some are exhausting, and many are a mix of both—and still, somehow they work.
