Synopsis

She's beautiful, smart, goal-oriented, and she just inherited the Cleveland Indians. Unfortunately, she wants to move the franchise to Miami, and a losing season is her only ticket to Florida. So she signs the wildest gang of screwballs that ever spit tobacco. They're handsome, but they're hopeless! Her catcher (Tom Berenger) is a washed-up womanizer who struck out in life. Her ace pitcher (Charlie Sheen) is a punked-out crazy who struck out with the law. And her third baseman (L.A. Law's Corbin Bernsen) is more concerned fielding endorsements than grounders. Throw in a busload of other misfits and you've got yourself a hilarious line-up that's destined for disaster! Or is it?

    I have seen this movie so manyyyyy times. I always remember that it would be shown on the MLB Network. Baseball movies will always have my heart. They are the best type of sports movies imo.

    A fun baseball film with a lot of heart. The fact that Charlie Sheen took steroids to improve his game is pretty funny and really on point. Wesley Snipes and Tom Berenger were great.

    R.I.P. Bob Uecker (1934 ‑ 2025) In his memory I had to watch my favorite baseball movie of all time! It’s quotable (“Juuust a bit outside”), funny and probably has one of the best endings of a sports movie ever! Just a great movie that I love and never get tired of watching!

    Top 5 sports movies all-time. Incredibly memorable characters, a plot worth investing in, and some of the funniest one-liners in comedy history. The traditional lovable losers storyline mixed with Bad News Bears vulgarity. Highly rewatchable.

    Watched again with my son and it was still solid but not quite as good as I remember it. The story seemed much more truncated and over simplified than I remembered. Still enjoyable but not amazing like I remember.

    I always revisit this movie right before every baseball season. Such a feel good and hilarious baseball movie. The romance stuff kinda sucks but some of it is ok. Love this movie

    This is one of my fav movies ever!!!! It’s fun to watch, has great characters. I recommend this movie to EVERYONE cus it’s just so nice to watch

    One of my favorite sports movies. Even bought an Indians hat cause of it. Love that they were able to use the actual team. Makes it better.

Major League is shamelessly formulaic. At the beginning, when it uses Randy Newman's ironic ode to Cleveland (City of light, city of magic), the movie has a lovely tone, and briefly, you feel a surge of anticipation, as if the people making it might actually have an original point of view or some feel for the game. All hope is dashed, though, early on, when you realize that they are cannibalizing every other baseball movie. (Newman wrote the music for The Natural.) This is movie-making by rip-off.
