Atom User Reviews for Madame Web
Don’t believe the bad reviews that came before this movie premiered. It’s definitely fun and worth the watch!
Worst marvel movie I’ve seen. Worse then the marvels or Thor love and thunder.
Not bad! It’s something different! I think everyone gets caught up and thinks every movie needs to be like infinity war.
I cannot say this enough, that Marvel has finally made big strides towards exiting their slump after End Game. This movie had me on the edge of my seat, the action and introduction of Madam Web was perfect. It’s a must see for any marvel fan
It wasn’t as bad as the reviews have been saying. It was a fine movie
Sony studios has to stop using marvel comics as rolling papers and smoking them.
Very bad
creative movie
It’s an origin story so it will be very slow for many people to watch. Great cast. Sad to see very little super hero action. Could have been better
Chaotic and felt unsure of its own story
Not bad but not great rather, very slow sequences and way long build up… that being said, writing was good and cleaver… but I think where it fell short was Directing! That acting was goood for what they were given… but I feel this could have been better. I wasn’t expecting MCU production and since this was a Sony driven production, it’s on them for the lack of directing.

I really enjoyed it. It's fun and smart.
Not your typical Spiderman or marvel movie. Definitely a good move and Sydney Sweeney played her part very well.
goofy rushed overall bad
Walked out mid-way through the movie. Terrible.
I felt very meh about this movie. it wasn't bad, but it didn't live up to the movies I'm used to marvel putting out.
The movie was very refreshing
I enjoyed the movie, I’m excited for it’s future
Not morbin' enough
I think the movie should definitely have more background on each of the characters. But overall very good character development. Some awkward scenes here and there.
Eeek. Who wrote this script? Good cast (minus the bad guy, his acting was horrible), but geez the writing is atrocious and the storyline is all over the place and not consistent.
The best Sony/Marvel in awhile! love it!
Lol
Think Final Destination meets Spider-Man but if it was made for USA or the WB. Fun and had its clever moments!
Sony has done better with their characters than Disney! Dakota was great in this.
The movie was actually pretty good , well round plot with just enough action to keep you engaged. The cast was amazing hope to see more of this project in the future
My kids and I enjoyed it
Worse than the Marvel's. I was struggling to stay awake. They couldn't have cast a more boring actress in Dakota Johnson.
SonyVerse needs to stop making movies if it’s not Spider-Man
The cast was great but the plot had many holes and didn’t flow together with the characters backgrounds. I feel like if they spent more time on dialogue instead of corny one liners then it’s would’ve been more enjoyable.
was better than most phase 4 and 5 movies but not so much to want to watch it again in theatres
Kids watch great movie help out older versions of Spiderman
Please don’t watch this movie it was a waste of my time and money, went with 5 people and we all disliked it.
Just meh.
Awful
Like watching a turd in the wind.
Very cheesy lines. Villain was terrible at his delivery of his character. No character development
Awful! :)
Interesting story but poorly executed. Even worse acting.
The villain had such bad lines. He sounded like an anime robot
Waste of 2 hours
boring
Writing, line delivery and plot were all mind numbingly awful.
Generally ok, but last 20 mins was very poor script.
Kid friendly
Cringe
Not a bad movie! A little wierd but good and fun movie. Not a lot of action.
So bad… it’s like a cable movie from 20 years ago

Metacritic
Sadly, Madame Web fails to rise above its pedigree as a lesser superhero movie. It does nothing to convince viewers that there’s value to be found in a story not featuring a marquee comic book character.

On the basis of Madame Web, however, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is now completely lifeless—and in no need of resuscitation.
None of this would work without Johnson, whose gift for side-eye and deadpan line readings grounds what could be a very silly story into one with real human stakes (that do not, thankfully, involve the fate of the entire world).
