it’s weird how both of these characters aren’t that likeable but i felt sympathy for both of them

The eleventh movie I saw for my film class… the acting was phenomenal, it captured the effect of divorce perfectly.
Best Picture Oscar winner 1980 (52nd Academy Awards) My Rating: 9.5/10 Nominated for 9 Oscar’s and won 5. Superb acting all around especially from little Justin Henry. He really breaks your heart. And obviously Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman are the best.

Excellent film. Wonderfully acted by Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep, & all the cast. The standout is Justin Henry. He was nominated for an Oscar—at just 8 years old!—for his performance here, which he definitely deserved. ⚠️ Content Warning Full Review on Letterboxd (🔗 in bio)
A powerful look at the heartbreak of divorce, its effect on family dynamic and gender roles in the middle class (or more broadly, societal expectations); it features incredible performances and an unbiased look at the members of the family. The film still remains relevant.

a spectacular film on divorce that handles hard-hitting topics such as existentialism and parenthood incredibly well. dustin hoffman kills it as always, perfectly utilizing a superb script. a wonderful mix of drama and humor, deeply moving
In what world does a harsh, precipitated, and impulsive decision like that ever goes to a court decision was beyond me. Dustin Hoffman’s Character shows a lot of maturity and calm throughout the storm!
