there is not a single scene in this film in which evan peters is not snorting cocaine. my favorite one was when it got knocked out of his hands and he proceeded to snort it out of his shag carpeting.

”If you know the words, I hope you’ll sing them along with me” Whenever someone describes a rock biopic as generic and by-the-numbers, this is EXACTLY what they’re talking about. Helen Reddy deserved better than this. ”You make me want to be…

Restoring my equilibrium by reminding myself of my political womanhood; this is bourgeois feminism distilled, pop-music-feminism, but it's catchy, anyway.

I have to admit, this was the first time I had ever heard of Helen Reddy. I hadn't heard of her my entire life, and thanks to this film, I have discovered a great voice (in literal and figurative terms) and of music I want to hear. I have already listend to some of her…

I Am Woman is a start in the right direction. However, based on this film you might think that the most interesting thing about Reddy is that she married her manager who then got addicted to cocaine. It's a frustratingly shallow approach to a singer who deserves better.

It is a lean and likeable, if slight and a little trite, celebration of the legendary Australian-American singer, feminist and anthem-creator Helen Reddy, shot with a rich neo-noirish texture by Oscar-winning cinematographer Dion Beebe.
