I promise i’m not insane for calling this normie dad twin peaks the return
David SimsMay 20, 2024Was not crazy about this but then it ends with a montage that's really just a trailer for Part 2 and I can't lie, it looked cool. You got me, Costner.
Patrick WillemsMay 20, 2024john wayne would’ve loved this (derogatory)

Is this sort of ungainly and obviously incomplete? Yeah, of course. But look at all these great faces and landscapes and it's just so lovingly, patiently crafted, almost a eulogy for this kind of movie just as much as it is for its very crucially cinematic idea of the…
matt lynchMay 20, 2024Kevin Costner’s character shows up and is immediately flirted with by an attractive prostitute who is 30 years younger than him. This is a subtle sign that he is also the writer and director.
Matthew PooleJun 20, 2024I wish Costner had a cooler cowboy hat, I don’t like it.

Going on a hunger strike until I can see chapters 2-5 of this. I've seen people call this a self-indulgent vanity project and I say good! Indulge away! Give me something big and vain and personal! Honestly, big respect to Costner for doing a grand Western epic with three or…
Will MenakerJun 28, 2024This ends with a montage that’s basically “Next on HORIZON”
JacobJun 27, 2024The response out of Cannes led me to believe that Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 was possibly a different movie than it actually is. The reviews, along with the longer runtime and the three planned sequels, and being somewhat unfamiliar with Kevin Costner's…

So, assuming this is supposed to be the entry for Chapter 1, I’m going to say I liked it, but the final score is going to depend on where this goes and how it wraps up. Several different story lines introduced, which I see people complaining about, but it didn’t bother me as I know this is just…
slightly disappointed. This felt like a roller coaster 🎢 with too many stories going on. I couldn't connect as a viewer the intension & emotions the actors were putting out because another set of actors would come along and add distraction. I recommend save $ watch at home.
4/10 A waste of 3 hours. The story constantly switches perspectives so you never care about anyone. The music and cinematography are great. The acting is very hit or miss because they talk so quietly. The ending is just 10 minutes of Chapter 2 clips, like huh? A bad western.

Don’t watch American Primeval on Netflix before watching this if you want to enjoy it. AP is just so good that it kind of made this movie seem bland to me. It’s also way too long, which didn’t help with my boredom. They could’ve cut out A LOT. There’s also like 10 different storylines following…
You have to understand this was made and intended to be a multi-film project not standalone. And it doesn’t serve as a standalone film either. I thought the cinematography was great, I mean just absolutely gorgeous. the film was very honest in just the brutality of the west amongst the land and…
Not sure how I feel about it. I enjoyed it. Great soundtrack beautiful scenery and cinematography. But the storyline was confusing. A lot of jumping around from storyline to storyline but little explanation given to what was happening. The ending montage was also very strange - I’m hoping…

The scenery is gorgeous in this movie and the music is really pretty. The story has a bunch of different storylines going and they jump around in time a lot so it definitely gets confusing at times what is actually happening. I’m still excited for when they decide to release chapter 2!
Was able to catch Chapter 1 in its theatrical release. Although this was 3 hours of first act build-up and laying groundwork for the rest of the saga, I still enjoyed it and wish the other 3 chapters were still greenlit for theaters. Would’ve wanted to get the full experience.
8.5/10. I really enjoyed this movie! The cinematography and locations immersed me in the American West. I wish there was more action and less setup, however it's only chapter 1 of a 4-part series. Kevin Costner’s character’s storyline is the most compelling, can’t wait for more!

It’s not a bad movie but it’s a really unfocused movie with a lot of subplots and characters. Hard to keep track. This might have been better if it released and edited as a mini-series.
JHJames HeinzmanA great set up to an interesting saga. Lots of storylines that will come together over the course of the next three films. Can’t wait for the second installment in August!

Good old-fashioned (90s-style) entertainment. Just sit back and soak in the time, place, and people.
PSPhyllis StierReally a good American story!

3 hours of incoherenceis with so many stirylines are little long and boring. Unfortunately this movie seems like it was made by people who have no understanding of how to write and edit a consistent story. The one positive note I can give is that the cinematography and…
PAPatrick AuriemmaShould have waited for it to be streaming. 3 hrs long needed too many bathroom breaks no pause button.
CFConnor FindlayFelt like a waste of time. So boring, so slow.
