Emptiness personified.

Josh LewisAug 26, 2020I used to have faith that there was some goodness in every person, but sometime around age 13 I watched this movie for the first time and Henry took that faith and put it in a suitcase left on the side of a highway

Chicago Neo-Realism at its most bleak and uncompromising. McNaughton made the most brutal horror film of the 80’s and barely shows a thing compared to most splatter films of the day. Rooker and Towles are ferocious.
Joe LynchJul 3, 2019I never watched this when I was younger during the “video store days” because honestly the VHS art did nothing to entice me. “He’s not Freddy, he’s not Jason...He’s real.” I mean, that’s a pretty eye rolly tagline. But then I started hearing about what a great movie it was…
Tony the TerrorMay 17, 2026“oh yeah, that’s right, i stabbed her.” What stayed with me after Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer was not just the disturbing last image, but the strange emotional knot the film tied itself into inside me afterward. The title itself already evokes the idea of…

The central concept on Henry might be "the serial killer movie as docudrama", but the real radical movie by McNaughton is that despite that he never abandons exploitation. The strip down narrative, lack of psychology and heavy amount of naturalistic detail become tools of…

FramesofnickNov 19, 2022True friends aren’t the ones who make your problems disappear. They’re the ones who won’t disappear when you’re facing problems. Like when you need to dispose the body of a dead hooker or go into a senseless murder spree. Peak squad goals.

Still a better love story than twilight. No plot. Just gratuitous murder and assault. Dark ending. Good movie though for the subject.
This feels like a CW scary movie with the soundtrack and static drowning out the sound. Reminds me of Halloween, in terms of a calm killer slasher movie. Despite only being an hour and a half, it almost felt a little too long. Would’ve been more eerie with less music. 7/10

Actually very much enjoyed this as i am a fan of horror in the real world. yes its nice to escape but my scarriest movies are things that can actually happen and do...
Bisher nur ein mal vor Jahren gesehen und war nicht wirklich begeistert gewesen. Ich gebe dem Film aber noch eine Chance. Rewatch Kandidat. ( 5,5/10 ⭐️)

A very good serial killer film and Michael Rookers is giving one of the performance in his career and in any given horror film.
A gritty raw look into the mind of a serial killer. Some very disturbing scenes that don’t hold back.
