5 stars minimum even if Reeve is the weakest Orpheus I've ever seen
James (Schaffrillas)Jul 23, 2026what was Orpheus even writing in that tiny notebook??? “La la la la la la la” ????
Eli!!Jul 24, 2026Eurydice was a hungry young girl. Fortunately, she ate and left no crumbs

can confirm that the hadestown gasp occurs with the movie theater audience as well
ashleyJun 16, 2026maybe if i watch it enough times they’ll eventually succeed
emilėJul 23, 2026All along, the villain of the story was never Hades or the fates. Eurydice didn’t trust Orpheus to finish the song in time. Hades didn’t trust Persephone to always return to him. Orpheus didn’t trust Eurydice enough to believe her hunger had changed. The villain here is…

Normalise officially filming theatre and distributing it in cinemas. Theatre deserves to be preserved and accessible to people who don't live in theatre-cities and/or can't afford the tickets to see the shows live.
LadyJeneviaJul 20, 2026And most importantly, André De Shields… (And an update: I spoke to Reeve Carney, Eva Noblezada and Amber Gray for Letterboxd, about all things Hadestown including De Shields’ mythic presence.)
Isaac FeldbergJul 24, 2026an orpheus who doesn’t turn around is an orpheus who never walks down into hades in the first place by the way

The best musical I’ve ever gotten to experience live (at least for now since Epic isn’t live yet). I saw it on Broadway and was blown away. The set was phenomenal, the world was so easy to be sucked into, the music was incredible, and the story was so emotionally powerful.

Such an enjoyable watch. Glad this cast in the production was immortalized for future generations to enjoy. Scratches the each for musical theater if you can’t get yourself to a live production.
I’m not a huge fan of Orpheus’s singing voice but the rest of the cast was phenomenal
7.4 - A break from The Odyssey…with more Ancient Greek mythology! I wanted to go see this live when I visited NYC in April, but couldn’t get it to work. All I knew headed in was musical combining Orpheus and Eurydice with Hades and Penelope, and that all sounded good to me! All in all, it was…

9.7/10 Hadestown is probably one of my favorite all time musicals. I was so pumped to see the pro shot of this😭🫠 however I WISH that Donal Finn’s Orpheus was the one in this show. Although Reeve was significantly better in this pro shot than when they originally ran this show. Donal Finn will…
This is one of my favorite musicals of all time! The writing is absolutely amazing! The choreography is out of this world. The storytelling only gets better the more I watch it. The emotions are incredibly powerful. I cried 3 separate times because of how strong the emotions are.
This was very cute. Hades’ voice was perfect. I did think some of the music was repetitive… but it was good!! Orpheus’ La La La La’s were mellifluous. He’s got a great voice and range to do that. Of course, Eurydice is spectacular. Her voice & performance. Liked the loop ending!

JSJoanna SmithFirst time seeing this show and didn’t know what to expect. I thought Eurydice’s voice was the standout and enjoyed the story, music, and the way it was filmed. I felt like some of the other characters’ voices weren’t as good but overall still was a captivating…
AWAmanda WalstonThis is a must see. If you love music and a love story this is the musical for you. The cast clearly loves the plot and are emotionally invested. The cinematography is perfect.
