10/10, one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Intense and does a good job of connecting you to the cast.
Just felt like this movie has been made about 5-6x already.. and each was better than this. Jake G. Is hard to believe as a tough guy, or even a smart guy.. just going through the motions.. as did this film. Overall, enjoyed it.. but felt like they wrote it in about 20 minutes after watching Hurt Locker, American Sniper, Lone Survivor, Zero Dark Thirty.. all of which were awesome and original. This was a rinse and repeat. That said, the interpreter character was awesome and is the reason for the 2 stars.
Metacritic
It’s the best film he’s made in years.
If The Covenant were only an interrogation of the hollowness of American exceptionalism, as its first hour suggests, it’d be among the most honest portrayals of the country’s role in the region. But Ritchie eventually awakens from his stupor, pushing this combat-action flick to gonzo territory.
The movie’s messaging has a righteous and educational undertone that makes this a worthy addition to the genre.
