This was like watching a Christian film only instead of learning to believe in Jesus, the characters learn to believe in PlayStation.

This movie was amazing. Grew up playing the games, and the movie was even better. Watching it in IMAX was incredible. More emotional than I expected as well.

Gran Turismo is perhaps a more basic film for Blomkamp, but a welcome reminder that his breakthrough first feature District 9 wasn’t a fluke. He manages to give a film that is more or less an ad for a video game a little bit of heart.

The film’s visual look is as inert as its screenplay, and its attempts to make the real racing scenes look like Gran Turismo gameplay by overlaying the game’s graphics with live footage fall embarrassingly flat.
