Moviegoers are saying
Audiences are split and mostly unimpressed, with ratings clustering around 4 to 5 out of 10. Viewers praise the restoration that makes the picture look 'new again' and its sweeping, era-defining scale, but many are worn down by the four-hour runtime, Scarlett's stubborn pursuit of Ashley Wilkes, and the film's racist and sexist content.

An extremely long PSA for responsible horse ridership.

If Scarlett could just TAKE A HINT that Ashley Wilkes doesn’t love her the way she thinks he does, this film would be fifteen minutes long.
JesseOct 26, 2020for one reason or another, people repeatedly call Gone with the Wind dated. this iconic epic is steeped in the ideologies and social structures of its time, a vivid tableau of an era long past, an idea that the film explores with a mythical longing. yet, as i immersed…

laney likedGone with the WindThis movie did something to me. Scarlet was pissing me off how she kept going back to Ashley 😒 she doesn’t deserve Rhett. Also Rhett was smoking everybody w/ his insults omg💀 Anyways, now I’m striving for a man like Rhett 😢 he rlly cared for Bonnie. It made me want to cry. 8/10

I know this was the movie that changed film or whatever, but my god. Scarlett is the single most annoying, selfish, idiotic character in history. This is just about two toxic relationships while being on the losing side of a war. Had some nice cinematic shots though.

It took me a full 4 days to get through this movie… but it was definitely worth it! I find watching this in the modern day to be complicated. Of course, it’s set from a Confederate perspective, but dives into love, loss, home, freedom, slavery, rich, poor, faithfulness, and more!
Brenda M. lovedGone with the WindI “get” it, but I also GET what an amazing, Hollywood epic this is. Is it a fantasy Civil War depiction? Yes. But for a time when Hattie McDaniel wasn’t even allowed to SIT WITH the cast at the Oscars & yet won? Come on! Respect Hattie. You don’t have to play a mammy no more.
Sabrina Bondi likedGone with the WindThe performances, set designs, costumes, Technicolor photography, and Max Steiner’s exhilarating score keep this film as bewildering and extravagant a film today as it ever was.

Clear an evening and indulge yourself in one of the few films that can justifiably be called an epic.

A towering landmark of film, quite simply because it tells a good story, and tells it wonderfully well.

Well, even if it is essentially four hours about a selfish, silly cow, it's impeccably well made, and should be seen by anyone with even a passing interest in romance or movies.
