Your daily reminder that Stallone movies never used to be cheesy, that 90-minute action movies are the best kind of action movie, that the Pacific Northwest is one of the most cinematic environments, that Jerry Goldsmith could do no wrong, that John Rambo is more-or-less a…
Colin the dudeFeb 6, 2017The destructive echo of American foreign policy—the eternal domestic consequences of stunting generations of boys, turning them into killing machines, and then abandoning them. Law and order, indeed. Believe it was Stallone himself who said that even the most skilled killer…
Josh LewisJun 12, 2023“I didn’t come to save him from you. I came to save you from him.” As with Stallone’s Rocky, the increasingly outrageous Rambo sequels and subsequent parodies tend to color the original in such a way as to make us forget it’s gritty, grounded nature and, dare I say it,…

Starting to regret spitting on all those Vietnam veterans.

A needed a nice lighthearted 90ish minute movie slotted in before work. I cried. He couldn’t find his friends legs and I cried.

JaySep 26, 2019I realized something this week. I had never seen "First Blood." I've seen several subsequent installments, but never the original film. Somehow, I thought I had. But while reading a series retrospective, I realized I didn't recognize any of the scenes from the first…

Even though this was the start to another action franchise for Stallone, it’s probably one of the first movies to bring PTSD to the forefront. Which is the most important aspect of this film.
This movie perfectly summarizes what’s wrong with modern film. This guys a tough cookie, but sharp teeth can bite through the toughest of cookies-at least they should. Rambos not some total superhuman with no depth or pain. He’s an actual character

Stallone's other iconic role is one of my all-time favorites! This was more of a drama than an action franchise that it led to. I love the over-the-top action movies Stallone did after, but this one is special because he brought life to this character and took it seriously. The monologue at the end…

I had seen this movie once before, but watching it again I understand what made the character Rambo so iconic and famous all these years later. This movie portrayed a very realistic and amazingly suspenseful storyline about a former green beret that left me wanting more! 10/10!!!
8.4/10: great action, solid start, and plenty of action through and through. This movie gives you an enlightening perspective of the Vietnam War and what these heroes underwent. It ended with some fluid dialogue and a craving for more. Stallone created another masterpiece.
