"Girls are people." "A radical!" "Oh, go away." This movie brings me so so so much joy. The music is great, the characters are so charming and full of life, every moment of dancing sends my heart soaring. There's a part where Tevye defiantly declares that he's going to…

the first half of this movie has the mood of january 2020 through the beginning of march and the second half is march until now. ‘if i were a rich man’ is parasite winning best picture. ‘sunrise sunset’ is me and my friends seeing sonic the hedgehog and getting happy when a…

We did Fiddler on the Roof in high school and I was (expertly) cast as the rabbi. On my line “may God bless and keep the czar....far away from us” I did a little Johnny Carson golf swing. It killed with my dad and basically nobody else. Anyway, this movie’s great. Topol’s…

Norman Jewison's literal-mindedness actually helps squeeze some of the goo from the material.

Would it be heresy on my part to suggest that Fiddler isn't much as a musical, and that director Norman Jewison has made as good a film as can be made from a story that is quite simply boring?

It still stands up as an upbeat portrait of pre-revolutionary Russia, and will have you whistling If I Were A Rich Man for days.
