Everyone who is in any 12 Step Program would do well to see this film. Take some kleenex along. It may just change your life.
You don't need to be religious to appreciate a story of overcoming the odds.
Humbling
Great movie. It was refreshing to see something that wasn’t so violent. Showed that real life is not always sunshine and roses. Mark Wahlberg does not disappoint.
Very good movie with a deep message of faith and perseverance. Great actors doing one of their best performance.
Needs subtitles dud to mumbling of lead actor in parts
Incredible story. Mark Wahlberg did an outstanding job. Mel was perfect in his role.
Cody Fern’s a scene stealer! He shared a lot of scenes with Mark Wahlberg. He definitely needs to be in more movies. I might be seeing it again on Easter Sunday.

Boooring
Spoiler: Mark Wahlberg doesn’t talk to animals in this one
Trailer said light hearted comedy. I felt like I was watch anything but.
loved this movie, everyone, no matter your religious beliefs should see it
Mark Walburg chooses roles often not worthy of his real life character or his excellent acting ability... but this was not one of them. Wish more movies like this were made.
Metacritic
Ultimately, Father Stu is unlike any other faith-based film I’ve seen. It’s raw, honest, and uplifting without tapping into preachy territory, which ultimately makes it effortlessly uplifting.
The film is a Hollywood-approved show of Old Testament judgment that sees all people as sinners and thus deserving of all the punishment they receive.
As a critic who’s professionally obligated to reckon with the latest trends in Christian cinema, I have to admit that Wahlberg’s R-rated conception of godly entertainment seems almost divine when compared to the culture war militance of “God’s Not Dead” or the Sunday school hokeyness of “I Still Believe.”
