Atom User Reviews for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
A great way to say goodbye to Downton.
I watched it with my wife. The movie should be called Dinner at Downtown Abby. for the many dinners they dress up for. I wonder how the actors managed to keep their slim figures with all the reshoots, etc.
It’s Grand Finale
If you love Downton you’ll appreciate it but we were a bit underwhelmed. There definitely could have been more drama towards the beginning of the film and then land the plane nicely. Seemed like missed opportunity to give us the tea on Mary and her ex hubby. That would have been the perfect drama to flash back to!
Finely crafted. Charming and beautiful to watch
A great finale to a cinematic era. Beautiful callbacks to the series, bringing back memories while keeping everything hopeful about the future.
Best only for fans who have followed the series from the beginning. Otherwise it likely not appeal to a general audience.
Sentimental, if you had followed every season and watched the special extras!! I cried at the end! Knew I would!
A great ending and farewell to this very heartwarming well written story
I'd see again
Loved it!!!
A must see if you loved the previous 2 movies. Great end to this Dynasty of characters.
Thoroughly enjoyed! Go see it on the big screen & Dolby Cinema!

Good finale, but a little boring
Metacritic
With a mix of old characters and new, worldly upheaval and small-town dramas, Fellowes illustrates what Downton has always done best, which is a social examination of how much things have changed and how they haven’t changed at all.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is as good as it needs to be, though like the other movies it’s probably a complete puzzlement to anyone not already familiar with the franchise, and creator/writer Julian Fellowes can’t resist having someone earnestly intone something about Things Change And We Must Change With Them every two minutes.
This final movie will give loyal Downton fans what they want: a satisfying bit of closure and the sense that the future, though a bit scary, may look kindly on Downton Abbey as long as Mary is in charge.
