    Was feeling a little distant for large stretches of the movie and then the third act got me in the “lean forward in seat position” and I didn’t move the rest of the movie

    Poor writing, so many plot holes, and an overall bizarre pointless story. The purpose being to expose disclosure by releasing usb stick video to the press. But they had a live alien in a box the whole time

Emily Blunt amazes in a new Steven Spielberg alien close encounter that probes his classic earlier work without deepening it. Lucky for us, the master still hasn’t forgotten how to deliver full-body chills that knock you sideways.

Disclosure Day’s epic conclusion comes across as if Spielberg is sending the audience a message, begging them to use their hearts and heads too. The moment plays into every complaint that’s ever been lodged about this raging sentimentality; I loved every second.
