A case of amazing material and fascinating history squandered in the hands of an unfocused team. Lacks a coherent and clear vision, but is a serviceable time capsule of John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosting The Mike Douglas Show in 1972. Their agenda - to reach middle-class…
MeganOct 8, 2024John Lennon’s murder in December 1980 marked the end of an era. The motive, according to some sources, was outrage over Lennon’s lifestyle. The fatal shooting sadly seems to make more sense now, as polarization, violence, and technology increase emphasis on American…
MovieJawnNov 14, 2025A must see documentary of the week that John Lennon and Yoko Ono were co-host and chose the guests that were on the Mike Douglas show. It's a must see for this moment when television, politics, and music joined forces on 70s daytime tv. This couldn't happen today. Just…

I've heard tell of this famed week when fairly apolitical daytime talkshow host Mike Douglas invited John Lennon and Yoko Ono to be his guest host and program the show however they wished. This was right in early 1972, when Nixon was about to be re-elected in a landslide…

I don't find much of the commentary particularly additive, but it's wonderful footage with plenty of character-revealing moments. I'd like to hope that the title is a knowing joke.

skylar moodyFeb 6, 2025God help me, but I love the early 70’s. It had ridiculous fashion, sincere political movements, crazy fads, and, of course, John and Yoko, before the government drove him underground. This isn’t a great documentary, but as a capsule of that time and those people, it’s a lot…
