8.1/10 Honestly loved this movie. Watched in preparation of the new one and was very solid. CGI was incredible and the actors that play these apes all deserve their praise but Andy Serkis is incredible
Natalie Shaw likedDawn of the Planet of the ApesI’m obsessed with Caesar and his lil family omg. Loved the full circle moment coming back to his home with the window. The old photos and recordings 😭😭 But didn’t fool me for a second that Caesar was dead bc ain’t no way!! F#ck you Koba, you evil ape. I hate you. Maurice on TOP. War has begun and…
Clay Werner lovedDawn of the Planet of the Apes9.2 - Incredible sequel. Every set up from Rise is paid off. Matt Reeves can really build a gritty, lived in world. The CGI is even stronger and more real feeling, the action is intense (chimps on tanks w/ AKs!), and the story really steps up with more ambiguity and tension.

The tonal switch from the first movie to this one works so well since the focus switches once apes. The plot is compelling obviously but it’s the characters that drive this story really. The amazing motion capture performance that Andy Serkis gives as Caesar is unbelievable.
Parker Mallars lovedDawn of the Planet of the ApesThis movie is TRAGIC. I love it so much. The VFX and acting are amazing as well as the music! Can’t wait to watch the 3rd and have my heart broken.

Dawn is not just a good genre movie or a good summer movie. It's a great science-fiction film, full-stop, and one of the year's very best movies so far.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes manages to do at least three things exceptionally well that are hard enough to pull off individually: Maintain a simmering level of tension without let-up for two hours, seriously improve on a very good first entry in a franchise and produce a powerful humanistic statement using a significantly simian cast of characters.

An altogether smashing sequel to 2011′s better-than-expected “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” this vivid, violent extension of humanoid ape Caesar’s troubled quest for independence bests its predecessor in nearly every technical and conceptual department.
