I hope this makes sense: the colorful, psychedelic imagery in the poster wasn’t really in the film, but I still felt that. Ya know? Spike Lee is so good at giving you a physical reaction.

The viet people are stereotyped awfully in this movie though. That my main complaint. Great history & exploration of trauma throughout. 7/10.
Nick Dubberly likedDa 5 BloodsI’ve only seen a handful of Spike Lee Joints, and this one has an absolutely stacked cast! Some really good action sequences with a lot of gory kills! It was pretty much everything I was expecting. Overall a pretty entertaining joint about how wars never really end.

Is Lee preaching to the choir? Perhaps but those not already in the fold who give the film a chance may discover that the things Lee is saying are hard to disagree with regardless of your race, creed, or color.

What we’re left with is a stark reminder that, “BlackKklansman” aside, it’s possible to agree with most everything Spike Lee says in his movies these days while lamenting the decline in his storytelling skills and his unwillingness to edit them into sharper focus.
