All his movies have the entertainment you would get from a crappy old movie, and yet every single thing is meticulously poking fun at the absurdity of it all. It astounds me to see how few understood the movie on the most basic level.

It's so bad I would give you a 0, but that's not possible, so I give you a one. I expected much more from a movie made by Johnny Depp, but most of the scenes were cringe, and the plot wasn't deep. But hey, I did get a few laughs. I had higher expectations.

In Cry-Baby, Waters has created a crackpot jamboree that captures the Fifties, then parodies and transcends the period; any resemblance to Nineties greed, prejudice and repression is intentional. At forty-three, Waters remains unrepentantly juvenile. It’s his saving grace. What he can’t fight, he ridicules. The mirror Waters holds up to the world is distorted, turning everyone into a grotesque. But we can still see ourselves in it And laugh.
