Sometimes, you watch a director's debut feature and are floored by it. They exist fully formed and break out onto the scene with a fresh voice. Most debuts, though, are like Guillermo del Toro's Cronos. This is a film full of the director's trademark obsessions, and…

My goodness what a wonderful mess! I know nothing about Horror, yet I could spot such an international smorgasbord of horror love here that my head was spinning. 50’s B Movies, American International in the early 70's esthetic, Cronenbergian body horror, Asian…

Cronos confirms my theory that every movie is better with Ron Perlman.

I got to see the restoration with Guillermo del Toro present to speak before and after the film. One of the highlights of my life. Also, the last film I will ever watch at Sundance in Park City. End of an era.

4/5⭐️ Guillermo del Toro’s first feature film, Cronos, is an absolute beauty. The storytelling, composition, cinematography, and characters all make this a unique experience. It was also fun to see Ron Perlman (Hellboy) speaking Spanish 😂. One thing that defines del Toro’s style is his use of…

Cronos

The premise was unique, however it almost seemed like it was a vampire film without really being a vampire film. Unfortunately I was mostly bored with this film because it tends to drag in several places. At least I learned how Ron Perlman got the Hellboy gig.

This was actually weird and kind of like a different spin on a vampire film mixed in with a touch of "The Fly" body horror.

Cronos

This was pretty good but I honestly thought it dragged near the end. Still a good debut film for Del Toro.
