Synopsis

Code 8 is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with varying supernatural abilities, but instead of being billionaires or superheroes, they face discrimination and live in poverty, often resorting to crime. Connor Reed (Robbie Amell), a power-enabled young man, is struggling to pay for his ailing mother's (Kari Matchett) health treatment. Fighting to earn enough money as a day laborer, Connor is lured into a lucrative criminal world by Garrett (Stephen Amell) who works for Lincoln City's reigning drug lord, Marcus Sutcliffe (Greg Bryk). Garrett helps Connor sharpen his powers in order to execute a series of crimes on behalf of Sutcliffe, while a militarized police unit, led by Agent Park (Sung Kang) and Agent Davis (Aaron Abrams), hunts them down.

In my opinion, this should be a TV series of at least 4-5 seasons. The plot has so much potential. The movie is good. Robbie and Stephen did really well. The special effects and the direction is good too. Heard it got a tv series with the same cast. Well, that's very…

Not a Bad Sci-Fi film with some really cool abilities but I think this premise would be so much better in a Series rather than film

Interesting premise? ✅ Nice bit of world building? ✅ Cool action sequences? Well....kinda. Interesting characters? Ehm. Well. That's a nope. Cool plot then? Nope. Big noperoony there. So, generic, beige vanilla then? ✅

So fun fact: when the movie ended, I was a little mad because apparently I watched this one instead of its sequel. You see, I thought I had seen this one before but then I checked in here and it seems like I confused this one with the Eraser sequel. Anyway, this was a…

👌🏻60% 2019 list - Click HERE After hearing about this film for months; I had to check it out. Code 8 is an interesting idea that just wasn’t executed to its full potential. It is showcasing elements of RoboCop, X-Men, and pretty much any superpower-filled film along…

A fun little sci-fi action flick. The performances were decent, wish there was more Sung Kang though. Weird how no one has useless powers, where are all the people that can detect when it’s going to rain.

A person's zip code shouldn't decide their destiny. You see the ones that didn't make it to Xavier Institute.

Remember how lame ‘Project Power’ was? ‘Code 8’ takes the same basic ingredients of drugs and super powers (albeit mixed together differently) to create a much better film. Apparently, drugs and super powers can’t support a plot on their own, so a standard trope must be…

While the Code 8 movie's premise is more interesting than its other elements, it's handled well enough to warrant further exploration. Code 8 works better as a proof of concept than a standalone sci-fi thriller, serving up fascinating world-building with a fairly basic story.

Though this clearly isn't meant to be a lighthearted story, a glimmer of wit here and there would've helped keep viewers engaged in the action and endeared us to a cast that is competent but hardly charismatic.

Code 8 is better than a mere calling-card film, though one senses a desire to check all the boxes of fan expectation and professional packaging rated higher than the kinds of personal expression that might have lent it a more memorable idiosyncrasy.
