Synopsis
A dying serial killer transfers his consciousness into a popular kids doll using voodoo. A struggling single mother gifts her six-year-old son the much sought-after doll for his birthday, and the doll slowly begins to show its true colors.

its funny how long they try to play the “is chucky alive or is this kid just cuckoo?” game when the first scene of the movie is literally brad dourif doing a voodoo spell to become a toy

🔴 Finally got around to watching this. Obviously Chucky is iconic and has kind of paved the way for an entire subgenre, but the plot around it wasn't bad either. I found the vodoo storyline a bit confusing because Chucky doesn't scream "occult" to me, but it did work. 🔵
Florian likedChild's PlayWsl. das letzte größere Horrorfranchise, dass mir noch gefehlt hat und den ersten Film fand ich jetzt gar nicht mal schlecht. Die practical effects mit der Puppe waren gut umgesetzt und auch wenn er keine größeren Überraschungen zu bieten hat war er recht unterhaltsam.
PsychoApproved lovedChild's PlayIt surprisingly still holds up to this day and is a really good movie. I can totally understand why it spawned an entire franchise that keeps getting new sequels to this day.

Child's Play has some limp dialogue among the clever touches. Its appeal is clearly for upscale horror fans rather than a general movie audience. Yet it is a fitting successor to the classic television horror stories it takes off from.
