Babe wake up, gorgeous sprawling big budget historical epics are back
phoebe 💫Sep 11, 2022Here for any film that clowns that idiot Mozart.
Bon MorrisonSep 12, 2022CHEVALIER is a thoroughly engaging story about an erased & forgotten artist given renewed life by Stephen Williams’ virtuoso filmmaking & Kelvin Harrison Jr.’s tremendous performance. The score’s grandiosity & brooding vitality is utterly gripping. A full-blown lavish…

we been knew French people are trash
Sonia 💅Apr 20, 2023Score : 6.2/10 ✅ Positively well-made yet feel like a chore due to a lack of depth. Mostly generic and I guess it’s where I lost interest. There’s obviously good things about it and it’s mainly due to a talented cast that elevates everything. Kelvin Harrison Jr. and…
DeathyApr 18, 2023Chevalier doesn’t stray far from classic biopic conventions, but with a story this stirring, it (mostly) doesn’t matter, especially when it’s further elevated by passionate performances from Kelvin Harrison Jr., Samara Weaving, and Ronke Adekoluejo - and one sincerely…

I love in movies where they’re supposed to be speaking a foreign language but they’re just speaking English. What’s bad is that this movie has a line “Speak French here”. Y’ALL SPEAKING ENGLISH. Suspension of disbelief is gone with that line. Dumb complaint I know but…
Ben KellyApr 19, 2023Chevalier is fantastic. One of the year’s best films so far, but also has the rare issue of being too short. There’s so much to explore in this composer’s incredible (and forgotten) story that I didn’t want it to end. The editing/cuts between scenes moved so flawlessly like…

SUCH A GOOD MOVIE, EVERYTHING was so well done from the acting, the writing and the performance of it all. If it doesn’t end up winning any awards, I will be very disappointed. I was crying throughout the movie. I could and *will* be watching this over and over again
From the first few scenes the score for this establishes itself as a titan, with each piece displaying incredible emotion and depth. The script didn’t really follow the same direction and featured a lot of bland, drawn out scenes that killed the pace. Lighting was terrible. 3.5/5

It took me 7 times to sit down and actually get through it. But the final time I actually was able to understand the art of each and every part of this inspired story. I know have to watch it 6 more times for my lack of judgement on an incredible written masterpiece well done !!
A great period film about one of the greatest violinists whose work was largely destroyed and lost until recently. The act balancing a life of limited proximity to whiteness while also trying to own one’s identity of being Black paired with musical talent is well-displayed.

God I loved this film, amazing music, amazing story, one I had never heard before. He wrote some of the most amazing symphonies and operas the world has seen and we’re only just rediscovering him now! Historical Review 22/09/2023
It was very informative and tells yet another story of a person of color whose story impacted the world but was covered up to be forgotten. Happy his story could be shared as a contribution to the musical world

I was expecting this to be a corny period piece about a lesser known historical figure but, was happily surprised. This movie presented a great story with lots of depth. I appreciated how there was a mixture of different languages and enough English to understand what was…

This movie is decent but takes a lot of historical liberties in order to “spice” up the story. Unfortunately, even with the “spice”, this movie is only mediocre.
RSRaven ShipmanThis movie was better than I expected, a must see for everyone!
