It had all the makings of a great underdog story, and for most of its runtime, it really delivers. But that final fight kind of undercuts everything that came before it. The referee's calls feel wildly inconsistent—penalizing him when he wasn't doing anything wrong, while…
I had very low expectations going in, but Sean Patrick Flanery is such a gentleman in this, and his love for Jiu Jitsu is so earnest and sincere, it is hard not to be won over. It is the kind of cheesy underdog movie that even non-MMA fans (like my wife...and myself for…
“We were looking for a place called America because that’s where they were having the chicken finger world championship” The absolute only thing I took away from this is that Dennis Quaid would make a great Vince McMahon if they ever make that biopic.

Seeing an action movie wear it's heart on its sleeve this unabashedly is truly unusual. Earnest to a fault and bolstered by an absolutely spectacular Sean Patrick Flannery performance, this one is well worth checking out. There's one element in the script the holds it back…
Uncommon, romantic, sentimental and foolish
I liked this so much more than I was expecting. Some throwaway stories came out in parts but overall, I loved it.
