Ben-Hur deserves all the praise it gets. This film is excellent. Not only is it well written but it’s well directed and acted with a powerful narrative that can be appreciated even from a non religious perspective. There’s a reason this is such a revered classic. 9/10

Despite its insane runtime, I found myself enjoying every second of this film for its great storytelling, great tension and amazing character development for its time. I see why it did so well. 10/10

Admire & respect more than actually like. Some thrilling action sequences & a great score keep it afloat but at times it gets very dull. Costume design & sets are great but it’s a very stodgy film that takes its sweet time. Iconic & influential but not one I see myself revisiting
Platypus Lord lovedBen-HurBoth a journey of epic proportions and of a single soul. Charlton Heston is great & brings Judah's great character arc to life. The music is fantastic & it's visually resplendent, with vast scope & gorgeous costumes, sets, & production. The chariot scene is a spectacular stunt.
Matthew Golad likedBen-HurThis is the definition of an epic. I had heard of the chariot race, and it did not disappoint. The scale of it was incredible. I did not realize it was going to have Jesus’s life woven into the thread of the film. For me it was interesting, and I’m not sure it was necessary.
