What used to be "THE WORST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER" is now a weird relic from before the superhero movie boom. Time has been oddly kind to it. We've now seen so many gritty and/or grounded takes on these characters, so many serialized sequels and interconnected universes, that…

"Always winterize your pipes!" Completely bonkers. So tantalizingly gaudy and so jammed with non-sequitur, intentional camp, and bewildering performances that the amusingly garish BATMAN FOREVER seems aesthetically timid by comparison. Schumacher is using all 64 of his…
matt lynchMay 27, 2017Me and my mates decided to take a shot every time Mr. Freeze dropped an ice-related pun. It didn't end well.
🎃 Geoff T 🎃Nov 18, 2024There is a lot to like in this movie but I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think Akiva Goldsman brought his A-game to the screenplay

Several reasons why this movie sucks: 1. The terrible dialogue. 2. Mr. Freeze's minions wore skates and wielded hockey sticks as weapons. 3. Bane is apparently Frankenstein. 4. Uma Thurman made Nicolas Cage seem like he doesn't try to sell his…
EvanJul 2, 1997This is the best of the 89-97 Batman run because it’s the stupidest, which means it’s the one that honors the source material the most. People flipped out over Batman having nipples in this one which, in retrospect is an insane line to draw in the sand. Do you not think…
Branson ReeseDec 19, 2020Batman & Robin is so lousy, it's amusing to think of it as the movie that changed Hollywood forever, the one that opened the door for X-Men, Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight. That it actually inspired creative executives—not visionaries like Raimi and Nolan—to care more…

I wanted to be a seduced by poison Ivy so bad. When I was a little girl I wish I could take robins place was always so disappointed he wore fake lips I would never disrespect ms.ivy that way. I'd give everything for her.
Clay Werner dislikedBatman & Robin2.2 - what a cringey, corny, over-stylized, over-sexualized, misdirected, badly shot, unnecessary, poorly acted at worst and phoned in at best, mess of a movie. Thank goodness Chris Nolan came around just a few years later to flip this universe on its head.

This is definitely not a good movie but I still enjoyed it. The Lego Batman video game levels make a lot more sense now

After the rewatch every second of mr freeze I enjoyed sometimes without him it was boring but if you look at this from a comedy perspective it’s fantastic and cheesy but from a serious perspective you may as well take ants more seriously 8.8/10 gets better with time
Eduardo Mejia dislikedBatman & RobinMy friend put this on and fell asleep so I was forced to watch it by myself and it actually made me throw up. One liner after the next …. Dog water. We are no longer friends.

The current Bat cycle was already tired when Schumacher replaced Tim Burton behind the camera on Batman Forever. This chapter -- so action-packed, yet so insufferably dull -- makes it clear that there's nowhere else to go.

Batman Robin, like the first three films in the series, is wonderful to look at, and has nothing authentic at its core.
Roger Ebert
Chicago Sun-Times
Joel Schumacher, director and ringmaster, piles on the flashy showmanship and keeps the film as big, bold, noisy and mindlessly overwhelming as possible.
