honestly the lands seemed quite nice I think it was the murder that was bad
issy 🥝Aug 25, 2019“The film's tag line ("In 1959 a lot of people were killing time. Kit and Holly were killing people") inspired the Zodiac Killer, who had been lying low for years, to write a letter to a newspaper denouncing their flippant attitude to violence in society by running such an…
mia lee vicinoJun 19, 2019It's gorgeous and serene and wistful plus Martin Sheen murders a ton of people

anyone that isn’t holly: kit: 🔫💥🤠💥‼️🔫🔫🤠💥‼️🔫💥
˗ˏˋ suspirliam ˊˎ˗May 19, 2021Sheen’s James Dean imitation is really great but the thing i love about Badlands the most is Spacek’s voiceover. Her voice lends the movie a dreamlike feel, there’s such a contrast between her tone and the violence we’re witnessing on screen.
NakulNov 12, 2023the shot of martin sheen stepping on that cow was weirdly gorgeous. simple but so strange and memorable, which i can say about most of the shots. whole movie is a beauty to look at. i’ve heard Gassenhauer in three different movies just this year (priscilla, true romance,…

Good cinematography is dangerous. Makes you root for a deranged James Dean look-alike and his 15-year old girlfriend on a dreamlike killing spree. Truly dangerous.
CinemaVoid 🏴☠️Mar 12, 2021“Wait!” called Terence Malick. “You didn’t hear the last ingredient! A dearth of style and the sympathetic POV of a morally-accessible character as to not misrepresent any portrayals as glorification!“ But Oliver Stone was already out the door. Wonderful. So warm and…
demi adejuyigbeSep 6, 2013This film has such a warm, open tone (brought on by those beautiful golden hues of the plains and the openness of the scenery) that the chilling, charismatic, and utterly delusional demeanor of Kit is that much more jarring. The narration by Sissy Spacek being so devoid of…

Probably Terrance Malik’s best; I’ve never been a fan of his work, but this one’s different. There’s a normal amount of dialogue in it instead of having little to none. It’s very well shot but isn’t solely about the visuals. It’s vivid the inspirations this had on True Romance.

terrence malick’s terrific debut, a charismatic and detached crime film with gorgeous visuals, a simple yet effective narrative, and a pair of phenomenal leads in martin sheen and sissy spacek. you’ll be rooting for them the whole way through
Very weird case that is probably gonna be studied for years. There's no way to know if she actually was involved in the murders or not, but her being only 14 at the time, it's hard to fully fault her for staying, even if she didnt kill anyone

nice little Bonnie and Clyde story from Terrance Malek, I think it could have been a masterpiece but its a little stiff in some ways
Challenging but a classic, I guess. I feel that the social context in which the movie is set makes up for everything.
