jocey coffmanApr 11, 2021a lot of this movie doesn’t hold up for me but the things that do are just beautiful. the opening dance number, the goofy interstitials, michael mcdonald getting run over in slow-mo, austin trying to u-turn- i love it! didn’t realize how deeply ingrained this movie was in…

Mike Meyers’ parody of classic James Bond movies and various 1960s copycats like Matt Helm and Derek Flint careens from gag to gag with such pop art color and energy that you don’t really mind that it misses the target so often.

Honestly I was aware of the wide reputation that came from the world renown movie Austin Powers :International man of Mystery but nothing were to prepare me for what was in store. Its massive stupidity brings a unserious nature to the entirety of the movie. Especially with the dynamic of that…
Austin Powers is exactly what a parody movie should be. New and hilarious characters and absolutely ICONIC villains! We need more Austin Powers even though I am not sure if it would work today 🙄😭 It truly is and will always be the best spy parody 🌼 Dr. Evil & Mini Me forever!
Funny as hell. Come into this knowing it is VERY much a product of its times, and it doesn’t care lol. Let it be as nonsensical as possible and enjoy the ride. So many iconic scenes and more in the next movies; Absolutely criminal Metacritic rating. 51?! Really?! This is a 75+.

I had hoped for humor that was more natural, more organic and some clever comparisons to the 1960s. I got neither. This film is a blunt, in-your-face cinematic example of shallow, childish, trashy insignificance that I suppose Mike Myers has become known for. Too bad!!
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’ is a parody on spy films and is one of the most beloved parody comedies ever made. It’s both goofy, clever, and a ton of fun! Not everyone will get the humor but it eventually won me over with its many laughs.
