Madison 🎭Oct 19, 2012John Landis' horror comedy is probably the best werewolf movie ever made with a fantastic transformation sequence that still holds up to this day it looks and feels painful, a true landmark moment. A true classic of the genre.

a mad dog? in my non-stop orgy palace? it’s more likely than you think
eely 👻Sep 4, 2014The best shot of the movie comes during the transformation scene when he stares directly into the camera, his eyes filled with agony, arm outstretched in paralyzed fear, so utterly helpless that he breaks the fourth wall and looks at the audience to call timeout and stop…

Morgan lovedAn American Werewolf in Londoni put this movie off for such a long time because i’m not really into werewolves but now i regret it, it was really great had such a charming sense of humor and really impressive practical effects i’ve never seen a werewolf transformation as viscerally uncomfortable as this
Colin Williams lovedAn American Werewolf in LondonOne of the greatest horror movies in history. A timeless classic with pacing smoother than butter and VFX that anyone who doesn’t like should be beaten until senseless. Intriguing, engrossing, and wildly entertaining.

not lena likedAn American Werewolf in Londonuhh embarrassed to say i watched this... and liked it? lmao honestly one of the best werewolf transitions ive seen onscreen, until they got to the head morphing. never show the head, okay? & that last transition mid-run not only makes zero sense, but also does NOT count. bad nono
Hunt likedAn American Werewolf in LondonPractical effects were smooth. 25% of the jokes were funny to me. I like the camera work. Plot could’ve been thicker but still decent for a werewolf movie. Really hot main character…those eyes man Spoiler: -I really like the additional rule where the victims haunt the Werewolf
CvptvinHowdy lovedAn American Werewolf in LondonI can't believe I forgot how great this was. I think my last complaint was the comedy, but it's actually good. The nightmare sequences are pretty intense, and those jump scares were effective. The transformation has always been one of the best uses of practical effects all time

When the movie backfires, which it finally does, it's because too much grisly footage has been used too lightly. Mr. Landis's comic detachment, which has been fascinating throughout much of the movie, is something he holds on to even when a deeper response is needed. Eventually it becomes less comic than callow.
