That shot of Mr. Badii's shadow enveloped by the infinite golden-brown hue of the falling earth? Yeah, pure genius. The true definition of a suspenseful film, but with a stronger emotional payoff than your typical keep-you-guessing movie. Deserving of its Palme.
Eli HayesRemember that Kiarostami is a humanist. He is concerned more with the human condition than with the motives of the characters, although he sometimes puts a lot of emphasis on the latter as well. Having said this, if any person has been put to the extreme of deciding to…
Edgar Cochran ✝️🍋Jul 7, 2019we are not alone. time takes us through a journey of pain and regret and moments where it feels like nothing can bring us salvation. and yet, we can look at the sunrise, remember the times where the wind blew through our loved ones’ hair, the way ocean water feels against…

never has the reason to why one shouldn’t kill oneself been put as simply or as beautifully as Bagheri’s question to Badii... ”you want to give up the taste of cherries?”
Robert FrancoJul 7, 2016A film laden with grand ideas and themes - with a vision to match. Yet it's never self-serving; it's self-conscious enough to be humbled by its own perspective in the presence of both the existential and the spiritual. A rare film that recognizes not only the potential…

writing a review Way after i logged it but oh well. kiarostami does something unexplainably beautiful here, felt like i was in a haze watching this. i’m gonna cut myself some slack for not adding a review until now because i think this is a very tough one to write about.…

CinemaVoid 🏴☠️Mar 1, 2021Taste of Cherry makes you taste the purest form of cinema. One of the best films which utilize the limitations of filmmaking from a minimalist standpoint. The film is about finding a tiny bit of reason/hope/excuse to live in a life full of suffering that may be as small as…

If I gave a thorough review I’d have far more complains than I would praise: sound design was terrible, was far longer than needed, ending was disappointing. But over all else I feel it succeeded in what it set out to do. It had great dialogue and it felt very purposeful & heavy
In an existencial crisis. I haven’t actually watched any film, in the past couple of days. Just I wish to have my memory erased, and watch this for the first time again. Abbas K. is a director of a gem. I wish to have such wisdom in this life, and use it for the better.

Few films talk about this kind of subject-matter. This film is beautiful.
“it’s not because you don’t understand, but you can’t feel what I feel”

the movie is Full of Dialogues - that means that it's not suitable for everyone - and in the end you don't know why he want to do that , this is truly the Power of Kiarostami's writing and screenplay ,this is not just an movie , it's an Trip to our own inner emotions and life 3/4
One of the most unique takes on the conversation of life, suicide and how we make meaning through our human lives. This movie does not overplay or underplay suicide and treats it as the human condition that many experiences. The cinematography, acting and pacing is great!
