Did You Know?
- The film was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods for Paramount, who submitted the script to John Krasinski to star. Krasinski's wife, Emily Blunt, also read the script and then wanted to co-star in the film. In addition to starring in the film, Krasinski is the film's director.
- The opening scene takes place on "Day 89", while the remainder of the film occurs on or after "Day 472", or one year and 18 days later. But days 472 and beyond clearly occur earlier in the fall than day 89. As is noted in the "Trivia" section, the opening scene was filmed last because it required John Krasinski to shave off much of his beard, so it was indeed shot later in the fall. This anachronism could have been corrected by changing "Day 472" to, say, "Day 442".

I loved a quiet place even opened the door for a sequel
for all the hype I wish it had less backstory and more "what happens next" Like some sort of resolution
It may not make the masterpiece cut, but this taut horror thriller is enormously entertaining, because it’s organized around a terrific idea — the necessity of absolute silence.
A Quiet Place is the rare example of a creature feature which uses special effects sparingly (and possibly due to budgetary restrictions) in order to amplify the drama onscreen, not solely provide it. It employs the full register of sound, and the lack of any noise, as a dramatic player, informing all the action to the point where Krasinski’s film becomes a startlingly sensory experience.
A terrifying thriller with a surprisingly warm heart, John Krasinski's A Quiet Place is a monster-movie allegory for parenting in a world gone very, very wrong.
