Kareem is "meh" on2001: A Space OdysseyYes, it was ahead of its time by several decades, groundbreaking, and all of that stuff, but that doesn't necessarily mean it holds up today. And before you say anything, yes I understood it. Perfectly-directed slow burn with great philosophical themes. Not for me tho.

Something in its mandarin blankness and balletic vastness, and refusal to trade in the emollient dramatic forms of human interest and human sympathy. Kubrick leaves usual considerations behind with his readiness to imagine a post-human future.
