Captain Marvel is not messing around in this first clip from Avengers: Endgame.

In this clip, which was first seen at CinemaCon last week, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) has finally joined the Avengers just as Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) realizes that wherever Thanos is, he has just used the Infinity Stones again for…something. Danvers, ever the hothead, immediately suggests the team go get Thanos and use the Stones to bring back the victims of Thanos’ snap. But Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Rhodey (Don Cheadle) give a little push back, especially Rhodey, who demands the “new girl” explain her absence.

So that’s why Danvers was absent from Infinity War: She was busy being a hero, helping planets across the galaxy that lack an Avengers-level team of heroes to do it for them. Frankly, she doesn’t need to defend herself here – though it’s understandable why her cockiness rubs the fragile Avengers the wrong way.

We already know from Captain Marvel that Nick Fury was only to use his cool intergalactic pager to call Danvers for big emergencies only, threats that the Avengers were not enough to stop. While we totally sympathize with Rhodey’s plight – it sucks being helpless as your friends turn to dust – he should aim his anger and regret at Thanos himself. And now, the surviving Avengers’ biggest chance to turn it all around is Danvers and her Binary powers.
