Founded in 1911 by Greek entrepreneur Louis Santikos, Santikos Entertainment was owned and operated by his son, John L. Santikos, until John’s death in 2014. The estate of John L. Santikos donated Santikos Entertainment to the San Antonio Area Foundation as a gift to the city of San Antonio, Texas.

That significant donation represents the heart and soul of Santikos Entertainment. Built with a committed philanthropic platform, the movie theater chain features a unique, and oh-so generous business model. It operates as a for-profit company, with the sole purpose of giving back to non-profits in the San Antonio area. The donations, sponsorship, grants and programming span across arts and culture, health, youth and education, and people in need. Santikos Entertainment is dedicated to strengthening the communities of San Antonio.
