hilarious & deeply romantic. seriously it’s hysterical. deeply personal film for director caroline lindy hence the based on a truthish story in the opening credits. learning that the monster represents her inner range & that her bf breaking up with her while she was sick…

It was going to be a love because I was definitely kicking my feet and smiling but the ending of whether or not the monster ever “existed” gave me a sour taste in my mouth. Felt like the last hour was all fake, felt like a cop out ending. Before that though I enjoyed it 6/10 🩸
The movie was pretty good, it had some fun moments and it was nice to see the main character get stronger as the film progressed, but the ending ruined it for me. I’m not big on endings that are up for interpretation, I just prefer having something that completes the story.

Such a fun and unique movie, I am loving the current obsession with falling in love with monsters (ie- Lisa Frankenstein). Loved the costume design, casting, music. Melissa Barrera is a phenomenal actor. Storyline & ending in particular have interesting implications & symbolism.
A love letter to theatre, rom-com, horror, horror-com. Melissa’s acting is magnificent, the movie is well written and actually a joyride. I can NOT stress enough how refreshing it felt. A perfect addition to Valentine’s Day list or Halloween or even Christmas movies in a way!!💗
