    5.5 - this *should be* my jam - quaint, mumblecore, slice of life dramedy, but it didn’t fully connect. I think I’m in a different place personally than the characters & have a different view on relationship honesty/anxiety. Acting is fantastic. For someone, just not me - yet.

    It’s not that there was anything bad about it, but there wasn’t much good about it. For me at least. The plot was too random and scattered and never felt like it was about the husband and wife, but took turns being about one. Loved the concept, but not the execution.

    I feel torn between meh and liked but settled on meh. It’s people living their lives and figuring out how to communicate with each other but no one actually communicates and just constantly complains about the lack of communication.

    I liked this one even more this time watching it. Another winner for A24. The themes and performances are great. Julia Louis Dreyfus is great as always. This movie about lying felt so realistic. I had a great time with this one.

    an awkward and occasionally entertaining film held together by strong writing and cinematography. a dramedy of sorts with a great lead performance, there are some hard-hitting moments but the narrative is less than stellar

    This movie was for me. It was hilarious with so many witty moments. The characters felt so real, and I think I’ve known them in my real life. As a writer myself, I can only imagine going through this. Pretty funny though.

You Hurt My Feelings is a movie about emotional pain, and there is something very astringent in it, a salty tang which isn’t really effaced by the later plot transitions whose emollient message is that we all fib a bit to our loved ones and it doesn’t mean we love them any the less.
