kaylaFeb 13, 2018Just a few TIDBITS of trivia: The MPAA told Lynch that the version of Wild at Heart screened at Cannes would receive an X rating in North America unless cuts were made, as the NC-17 was not in effect in 1990, at the time of the film's release. The director was…

Pawl is "meh" onWild at HeartI wanted this to be great, but I ended up agreeing with Robert Ebert’s review instead. Disjointed exploitation and satire that doesn’t amount to anything in the end.

Completely mental. Very similar to True Romance and Natural Born Killers but with the addition of Nicolas Cage 🤣
tony dislikedWild at Hearthonestly I found it surprisingly basic and cheesy for a Lynch movie :(

nevan likedWild at Hearthilarious, whether that was intentional or not. worth it for laura dern and willem dafoe’s characters alone, with some fantastic music and absurdly chaotic moments. throw in outrageous amounts of sex and some not-so-subtle wizard of oz references and you have quite a film
Heisenberg lovedWild at HeartI don’t know why it took me so long to watch this! It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen! Perfectly Lynchian with its dreamlike atmosphere. I really enjoyed the love story of Lula and Sailor and the absolute METAL attitude of Sailor 🤘🏼

The first Lynch film in which his motives -- to hang a haberdashery of bizarre incidents on the merest hook of plot -- are apparent... What's lacking is the old sense of delicious, disturbing mystery. [20 Aug 1990, p.63]
Richard Corliss
Time
As a story, Wild at Heart is even less coherent than #147;Blue Velvet,'' to the point where whole characters and subplots disappear into a murky haze at the end. [17 Aug 1990, Arts, p.11]
David Sterritt
Christian Science Monitor
David Lynch doesn't tell stories as much as he shows hallucinations. Wierd, wild, excessive, obsessive, idiosyncratic visions.
