Moviegoers are saying
This ambitious musical adaptation has audiences experiencing religious-level euphoria during key sequences like 'Defying Gravity' in IMAX, while simultaneously questioning the decision to split one story into a 160-minute 'half-movie.' Jonathan Bailey's unapologetically charismatic performance as Fiyero has theaters collectively swooning, though some viewers are left craving more substantial narrative payoff.

Near the end, though, “Wicked” does surge to a kind of life.

By the end, you won’t quite be levitating off your seat but you’ll definitely be enchanted enough to stream the soundtrack on the way home. Funny, colourful and full of empathy for outsiders, this film really is the Shiz.

The movie drags at times, evidence that the too-generous 160-minute running time adversely affects pacing without resulting in a better-defined, deeper storyline.
