Atom User Reviews for White Boy Rick
It was an okay movie. Not as hype as it seemed to be.
I m was born in Detroit lived there most of my life! White Boy Rick brought back memories! I hope this film can change and save some young lives.
was a great movie. definitely a best so far of the season
Deep emotional movie that evokes human nature.
This movie was everything and nothing that I expected!! It was really really good! Great cast and acting too!
Amazing cast! McConaughey's acting is off the charts! Lots of surprises! It grabs your heartstrings & pulls you in!
Best film of 2018
can't believe how the government treats people
Recyclable Trash
We don’t glorify rats he shouldn’t have ratted b
Aight..just another life story in this American Dream
this was an amazing movie! had me all up in the feels
Felt like it was more about the father than a kid.
It was a fine movie. The cast was phenomenal and the movie did a good job of developing the characters. It felt a little slow especially the last third of the movie.
My honest opinion: I thought it was dope and there was a nice soundtrack to go along with it.
loved it
Well acted, well directed. Great screenplay!
Plot moved slowly. The fast paced trailer was deceiving. But good overall, would recommend you watch.
You should see it and get to know White Rick
Just a heart wrenching tale of a kid that got used by a corrupt justice system and disregarded and hid away for thirty plus years. Sheds light on corruption in our justice system and just hurts to know the injustice done to this once bright eyed kid
Good movie
true, sad, story of the reckless, realistic, polital world we live in today
Not knowing who Rick was this film did a great job at capturing his personal life while also making a great movie
previews amped it up way more then what i expected
Tell a good story and show real areas of Detroit, Michigan
Horrible plot. Jumped time distance without explanation, no character development. Not sure what I just watched, but would rather watch paint dry... at least there is a beginning middle and end.
I’ve watched White Boy Rick two days in a row........loved it!
Such an interesting, true story
The storyline made me angry. The justice system is so messed up. Other than me hating Michigan, the acting was pretty on point
bad kid acting. Matthew carried the film but it took 4ever to GET TO IT!
Left ya in a somber mood. Decent movie. Loved seeing the 80’s attire and scenes.
It was funny and I didn’t mind the erratic pace but the ending ruined it for me. I will not have a pity party for a kid who actively committed crimes and built a drug network and had to serve serious time once caught when there are TONS of real life stories of INNOCENT PEOPLE who did just as much time for crimes they did not commit.
No plot
Didn’t know what would happen next!
could have added more
WBR was just ok. Matthew always gives a great performance.
Super #Dope film. The fact that it is a true story brings out the movie overall. Something to see. Enjoy!
Enjoyed it has a good story telling
McConaughey was the best thing about this movie. Could have been a little better
Meh
waste of money
Not exciting, pretty boring story
starts slow but really gets good at the end
It’s an okay movie!
Sick as movie
was miss leading, typical ending
wow what a movie. defiantly proked a lot of thought
Metacritic
There’s something strangely uninvolving about White Boy Rick, despite all its claims to be a sensational true story.
Lack of focus is ultimately the undoing of sophomore feature director Yann Demange – despite crafting several compelling stand-alone sequences, he is unable to stitch everything together into a compelling whole.
Best of all is Merritt, a remarkable find who makes an indelible impression in his very first onscreen role. Giving Rick just the right mix of bravado and awkwardness, he’s like an improbable gene splice of a young Matt Dillon with a young Seth Rogen. Don’t expect him to disappear for 30 years.
