It was better than Thor love and thunder
The movie followed the book closely without sacrificing any of the key elements. Very well acted and beautiful setting. I also appreciated no gore or foul language.
Great movie super good story could use a little less sex scenes though.
Breathtakingly beautiful in every way.
I would say the CLOSEST book to movie adaptation I've ever seen and I'm happy for it.
Very underrated movie you just need to watch!
Enjoyed the changes from the book. Liked the ending
I need to read the book! 🤓
Very good even for those who read the book
Corny and boring AF
Loved it!
Fantastic book put to the screen beautifully.
If you didn't read the book like I didn't, then the ending will be great. Kept me guessing. Good movie.
A really great book to screen adaptation!
It engages and draws you in so you can empathize with the lead and feel with her. There were a few times that I teared up. And then the ending, is worth every minute to get there!
See it at home.
Powerful movie!
This movie was great. I am going to get the book!
One of the best I've seen in a long time
An amazing sleeper of a film. I'm so glad I saw it!!
So good!!!
Best book to movie I’ve seen
Movie was ok. Was trying not to fall asleep.

A little slow in the middle but I loved the story!
Cried my heart out this movie was good now I need to read the book.
Movie did and amazing job recreating the book!
Best movie of the year!!!!
Absolutely amazing!!
I read the book first and the movie was done real well
I never read the book and glad I didn't. Great surprising things in the movie. I think it made it better without reading the book first
Great movie! Surprise ending.
While the ending is surprising, it leaves some plot holes between the end of the trial and the end of the movie.
I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. Definitely a must see.
Wonderful movie
So good but please still read the book. The imagery in the words cannot be put in a film. But the movie was wonderful.
Good story surprise ending. Not at all what I was expecting.
One of the best movies I’ve seen in so long. Heartbreaking and so beautiful
If this doesn't get an Oscar nomination for 'best adapted screenplay ' it would be horrific tragedy.
I loved it 😍
A good movie adaptation of a great book. They did the story justice without sacrificing important book details.
A little slow at moments but overall a good plot line.
I really liked it and loved that it stressed how we all need to be good and kind to each other
It keeps you intrigued and makes you think alot over all good movie
This is probably one of the most interesting and thought provoking movies I've seen in a while.
Great Movie
This is NOT a chick flick. Men take your wives to see this movie. You both will love it.
Surprise ending
Well done! Visually stimulating and had a surprising ending. Makes me want to read the book.
i love this film... if you haven't seen it yet, must go see it. if if you've read the novel...
Metacritic
Does the fact the film largely ignores the book’s treatise on nature and virtue absolve it of all connections to Owens’s real-life controversies? It certainly doesn’t, on an artistic level, improve what’s already contained on the page. Newman’s vision of rural South Carolina is scrubbed so clean you might as well call it #swampcore – the Spanish moss looks bright and pristine, the flower petals on the water almost consciously arranged.
Director Olivia Newman (First Match) bathes the story in so many broad, creaky tropes and odd tonal shifts that nothing ever feels real for a moment.
Instead of a complicated protagonist at the centre of an atmospheric thriller Edgar-Jones seems trapped in an ill-advised antebellum-themed Taylor Swift music video, exacerbated further by Swift’s dulcet tones heard over the end credits.
