Don’t believe the critics, this is a great movie! Bringing the dolls to life was a stroke of genius and creative masterpiece.
Great movie. Unique. Based on true story as it mentions. I wish it was a little less cartoon, but still great movie. You NEVER find out if hr decides to let go of his fantasy world or not. and you NEVER find out exactly what punishment his abusers got from the judge.
we loved this movie....the interaction between the cgi characters/dolls and the real life people was fascinating....great story, too
The worst movie ever ... I left during the movie it was so awful
This movie highlights what an attitude of love and acceptance can conquer. All the people who joined to support the main character and help him through the horrible attack gave him the strength to ultimately be his own hero. I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would.
justva tad gsy
I enjoy the story
Great movie! Loved it!
So.. yea It was good, definitely a good way top depict PTSD from any source. It would be great had it not been for the shoes aspect and "womans essence" etc..too much.
good movie, good effects, great cast, missing a score that moves you... but the soundtrack is on point!
Good movie because of the actors, but the ending was not at all worth the buildup there was in the movie. I left feeling unsure about how I truly felt about it!
Steve Carell does an amazing job and the visuals are outstanding, yet the story never makes a decision about wanting to live more in the real world or his fantasy world, and in the end just walks away leaving you feel unfulfilled.
breast shots
I enjoyed this movie!!!
This is a feel-good movie!
This movie was ok. We did consider leaving at one point because we thought our time could be better spent. Steve does a really good job acting but the story was a bit slow at times. It wasn’t a terribly bad movie but one I’d reserve for an at home viewing.
The visual effects were great. Really pulled you in. could have developed the plot and characters more but really enjoyable film.
Do watch it!🤬
Good (and true) story of love and violence and bigotry, really well told-
Looked like an interesting new concept in a movie landscape of remakes and tired sequels. True story that is sad but you don't have as many tears as smiles. Well made, worth seeing.
The story could have been told better. I feel as if I don’t know anything more about the characters than what I learned in the trailers. Also, the movie left a lot of unanswered questions. Overall it was just weird but visually appealing.
Not what I was expecting. Very slow.
Wonderful
Really great movie, awe inspiring and visually impactful.
Cute movie. Quite obscure, if it weren't based on a true story I would have considered it a waste of time. However, it did have it's moments of cleaverness and sincerity.
It was OK. Not great. The fact that its based on a true story made it more tolerable
A VERRRY creative and poetic way of telling the story of how some1 deals with PTSD!
i absolutely loved this movie! it's the best movie i have seen in a long time! definitely touched home for me.
Great way to tell the story.
Very original. Never seen anything like it before. Expected to see a few actors a lot more in the film though. I also expected the film to cover more time. Steve Carrell gave a great performance all throughout.
The intent of the movie comes through, it’s just weighed down by the sometimes slow pace. There are moments when things are introduced and then never brought up again. It’s a descent movie with strong performances, but it feels incomplete.
Very interesting how the live action and CGI were intergrated in the scenes. It was inspirational and well acted.
was really excited to see this movie. Trailer looked great. but wasn't what I expected.
Actors were really good but the movie (story) was really strange, a lot of violence, bad language and even doll nudity, not a movie for kids. A story that was kind of hard to follow..
If youre on the fence about it, just watch it ; it's better than youd expect. It's a zemeckis film, so you know a lot of heart and effort is put into it the project. Despite what the critics say, its an enjoyable movie, has its moments and opens your world to a story you may have never heard otherwise. Steve carrel continues on this path from comic to serious actor. His performance throught was great, so was the entire cast. Just watch it, you'll enjoy it.
Not at all what I expected, and not in a good way. Great aesthetics though with the doll fx
My entire family enjoyed this movie! Must see
Kinda dumb
wonderful snow globe look into a beautiful soul once crushed.
The fact that this was based on a true story made it even more remarkable, and inspiring. What happened to Mark Hogancamp was horrific & despicable, but seeing how he dealt with it was unique and inspiring. Steve Carell does a great job bringing his story to us. And, seeing the "dolls" come to life was fascinating, I was captivated throughout the entire movie.
Definitely an Inspirational movie!
Not as bad as I thought it would be based on the reviews I read before seeing it.
Such an inspiring film and every second kept getting better and better. Must see if you love these types of films. Also more touching to know it is a true story. ♥️
not enough background info on characters so I wish they expanded on main character before the accident and the characters of the females that he based the dolls from.
l like the animation. Great job on the blended animation story with the main character's personification.
Lacked story-telling
I cried, i laughed, but i loved itt
This movie was so good. Different but good. It had a good message in it.
Movie was good, not amazing but good. I enjoyed seeing it and would recommend it to others
It’s was ok. I had to keep reminding myself that it was a true story because the main characters cowardice got a little annoying.
Metacritic
The movie works best when it falls back on plain old acting. Merritt Wever is sweet presence as the hobby shop worker and gentle soul who understands Mark’s obsessions, and appreciates his art. Her scenes with Carell are the movie’s least technological, and its best.
Welcome to Marwen is a disastrously misconceived movie, but in such a boring way that it’s hard to imagine its target audience. Most of the time, big-screen disasters are hugely ambitious tales that completely miss the mark. This one hits the mark, but it’s probably not a target anybody should have been aiming at.
The tone is almost willfully off-putting. The parts that are supposed to be cute could give you the creeps. The film is almost a Platonic ideal of how to take an emotionally transfixing real-life story and get it wrong.
