Moviegoers are saying
"Weapons" splits audiences down the middle with its ambitious multi-POV structure and genre-blending approach that mixes horror, mystery, and unexpected comedy. While many praise its originality and praise Alex as "the smartest kid in ANY horror movie ever," others feel let down by an anticlimactic ending and too many unanswered questions that leave viewers wanting more closure.

i’m just glad we’re seeing kids go outside again instead of being glued to their ipad screens
mikkoAug 8, 2025hilarious how anyone ever thought the teacher was involved in the class’ disappearance as if an entire room of children has ever once listened to what we tell them to do

To me a really great example of originality and provocation meaning very little if a film doesn’t deliver on its presented ideas, it’s more interesting in structure than content but even the shifting POV doesn’t amount to much. There’s a stretch in the middle (the best part…

Unfortunately I missed the first 10 minutes because my friend doesn’t know what being on time is🥀💔 but I LOVED what I got to see! Huge fan of the way they shot this movie. The ending was lowkey hilarious but also terrifying. A bad wig is always at the scene of a crime
Daniella dislikedWeapons- i wish Gladys had more backstory. like why is she sick, how *explicit* is she benefiting from the possession. why is gladys here - ending felt empty - matthew being a bully disconnected me from the story, if he was alex’s friend i would’ve cared more - characters felt shallow
Shiv Reddy likedWeaponsFelt like the end climax wasn’t the payoff I was looking for but I loved the ride.

Wow, what a film. Loved the different POV concept a lot, but it did leave me wanting a bit more, maybe just to tie things off. I felt like we didn't close the loop with Julia Garner's character for example. I seriously could have watched another 30 min of this, with no issues, and that's a great…
zxki is "meh" onWeaponsWeird, wonderful, and wasted. Weapons uses the "this is a true story" line when it really shouldn't. It's difficult not to spoil, so all I'll say is it reminded me of "Sinners" in more ways than just weaving together a fictional story with various real-life narratives. Either I need a serious…
Jikitiz likedWeaponsVery nice and interesting, kept you entertained the whole time, wish i knew what was happening during the dark scenes though 🤗

One of the craziest plots I've seen in a while. Might be my favorite movie of 2025 so far. Madigan is unrecognizable in this.
Clay Werner lovedWeapons9.1 - Second viewing sadly didn’t add as much as I hoped. But did move it up still! This is a very, very, very good movie that’s missing probably one (?) thing (or needs to remove something?) to make it great. I’m not 100% certain what that thing is, but I think it’s a level of clarity. I’ve seen…
Rocket Raccoon lovedWeapons8/10 some plot holes but hella good overall, film was amazing and zeke was even touched and he hates scary movies

Worst movie ever
AHangel herreraWeapons DEFINITELY lives up to the hype in every way. Very suspenseful, great story telling.
SCshanon chowA little slow but very “original.” It wasn’t scary at all, the twist was just a bit surprising. The ending was satisfying though.

BCbrittany caytonOh.my.goodness... I don't want to give a thing away, because seeing this unspoiled truly made it magnificent, but I will say this is a must see. The mystery, the tension, the reveal, the original story line... What an absolute necessary refresher of a movie in a drove of…

It is a short jump from laughing to screaming. There is no safe space. Cregger has a refined sensibility for identifying the core irritations in ordinary life and amplifying them into anxiety, escalating to terror.

In the end, [Cregger] wants to take you on a ride, and so he’s got to provide both hills and valleys, producing a horror film that’s equally hilarious and chilling.

Weapons manages to keep its powder dry – a feat of crafty editing by Joe Murphy – for a knockout finale that’s twisted, hilarious and savage, all at once.
