A legitimate contender for the greatest performance of all-time.
Eli HayesMay 22, 2015You might think you know Nic Cage, but you haven't really experienced the real Nicolas Cage until you've seen this movie. I'm speechless.
EvanJun 28, 2013The more you watch Vampire's Kiss the more sense it makes. This is my third watch and now I've got over the shock of Cage's performance you know, there's actually a really good story under there. Would make a perfect double bill with American Psycho! Actually can you…

If this movie starred anyone but Nicolas Cage it would be unwatchable
James (Schaffrillas)Oct 25, 2015His voice is the place to start. Nic Cage's use of emphasis has no rhyme or reason, and the rhythm of his sentences are off, as if he's inserting commas where none should be. The energy he puts into even mundane sentences suggests he isn't so much saying his lines as…

SamhainApr 24, 2020Some kind of deranged sleek yuppie scum nyc satire that predates American Psycho and for me, manages to be the more interesting of the two. Cult film for sure, and people laugh/make fun of Cage’s gonzo unrestrained madcap performance as his character descends further into…

I expected this movie to have only a few insane meme-worthy moments instead it was entirely batshit insane. Every scene, every piece of dialogue, every character choice. Pure insanity. Can something this beautiful be fully unintentional? A mystery unsolved.
this movie is atrocious, every single acting choice and line of dialogue is outrageously inappropriate and ridiculous …but that’s exactly why it’s amazing i absolutely love the unhinged performance that nic cage delivered, it’s a joy to watch and makes it all worth it

Is this an award winning movie? No. Is this a classic? No. Is this movie in my top 5 and forever will be? Absolutely.
Nicolas Cage at his most Nicolas Cage in this film, that’s all I have to say
This movie is wild. The script is lacking and fails to explain the reason for a lot of the behavior in the film. The ending is confusing. Maria Conchita Alonso gives a great performance that personifies how I felt while watching this movie. 3/10 Full review https://boxd.it/4rhkn9

A terrific satire exploring yuppie culture and insanity. Nick Cage’s performance is superb. The character uses a continental, artificial accent in order to impress. All the scenes on the street can’t be replicated, it’s the real thing and not some studio stage/cleaned location.
If this movie were a food it’d be a banana sandwich. Just absolute mayhem from start to finish. Nic Cage off-leash is truly a sight to behold. Not for family viewing, but if you want to see something bonkers and uniquely weird then go all-in on this one.

Yes, Vampire’s Kiss features one of Nicolas Cage’s most outlandish performances (which is saying something), but it’s also a dismal film, ugly and misogynistic in a particularly 1980s way.
But what truly distinguishes the movie is Cage's performance, which is so off the wall that even if you don't like it you have to watch in awe.
