100 4K UHD A lament for the bad men, and the good they thought they did.
SilentDawnJun 27, 2019"I swore I would never be involved in a picture with this much violence in it. But the more I read it and the more I came to understand the purpose of the film, the more fascinated I became." (Gene Hackman) BLURRING THE LINES BETWEEN HEROISM AND VILLAINY, "UNFORGIVEN"…
Two CineastsJul 20, 2020I've killed women and children. I've killed everything that walks or crawls at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you done to Ned.Atonement. A study of regret and contemplation. The final western from the man who helped redefined the…
Ian West - Dec 30, 2020
A film about how the "West" as a concept was largely a series of intersecting male insecurities, from penis anxiety to the overwhelming fear of losing a fight. The hero is a man with a past of ruinous, pointless violence who bettered himself only when he separated himself…
Jake ColeDec 20, 2022"I can assure you, if you did, that the sight of royalty would cause you to dismiss all thoughts of bloodshed and you would stand... how shall I put it? In awe. Now, a president... well I mean...why not shoot a president?" The last Western. Hackman. Eastwood. Freeman.…

comrade_yuiDec 23, 2020Clint Eastwood started to direct around the time that the western went from being an action genre to be Hollywood auteurs favorite art genre hangout and to some point all his four straightforward westerns are very labored and self-conscious exercises in the same, but he was…
Filipe FurtadoNov 17, 2023"It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have." "Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming." "We all got it coming, kid."

Such a unique take on the Western genre, with some really thought provoking scenes. There are plenty of scenes that build up great tension with the delicate use of ambiance and unique dialogue. You never do meet Mrs Feathers, a fantastic little detail. Rating: H- 10/10, L- 9/10
From the first scene you can tell this is a very different take on the Western genre. Eastwood criticizes his whole career and fans with the brutality and grittiness of this movie, subverting tropes and showing the actual cost of glorifying violence with these types of stories

Best Picture Oscar winner 1993 (65th Academy Awards) My Rating: 8/10 Nominated for 9 Academy Awards and won 4 including director, supporting actor and film editing. You really can’t go wrong with a Clint Eastwood directed and starred in western. Brilliant performances ✨
Perhaps one of the most thought provoking westerns ever put to the silver screen, Unforgiven is one of those films that are so compelling that even after the screen fades to black and the credits end, you’re still left transfixed. 9/10

This won’t be for everyone but I liked it. Theirs an incredible cast and Eastwood is of course great. Theirs some dull moments but overall it’s really well written and one of the greatest finales in history
Western moderno y extraño de ver al ser el protagonista clint pero siendo mayor. Q nos recuerda a sus antiguas películas pero con su gran actuación con la ayuda de gente hackean y guion bien compuesto.

It's powerful entertainment. [22 Sept 1992, p.A16(E)]
As great as the script and cinematography are (they are both unassailable), the real magic of Unforgiven is in the performances.
Unforgiven is a stark western in slow motion, obsessed with reflection, not action.
