brookeApr 11, 2022“I can feel myself slowly turning into my mother.” A film that would have benefited from throwing away the entire idea of being a horror film—with its insufferable conventional jump scares and cliches— and focused more on being a psychological thriller with folklore…

The scariest part was the 17 year old calling Sandra Oh “mommy” still.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and I’m genuinely confused as to why it’s been so badly received by horror fans. It feels like your regular American supernatural studio horror flick, I knew exactly what I was getting when I decided to watch this. Sandra Oh is excellent, an…

Umma is unique and interesting in bringing aspects of Chinese-American folklore to cinema. Sandra Oh nails her performance and it’s refreshing to see her in this type of role. While the film manages to remain suspenseful throughout, it may leave some with much to be desired.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ the movie was alright, but it didn’t have much leading for it. It was about a mother and daughter having to live a life far from others because of the mothers trauma. It didn’t have much going for it until like the last ten minutes of the movie

I was looking forward to this, with Sandra Oh, but I was really disappointed. It was very slow and boring at times, and when things did happen it wasn’t really a lot. Wouldn’t watch again.
The acting was good and there’s a few jump scares but it’s missing some pizzazz….. maybe if they showed more of the past trauma directly or some kinda uncomfy scene but it was just ard 👺
