PlanetBerto likedUmmaUmma is unique and interesting in bringing aspects of Chinese-American folklore to cinema. Sandra Oh nails her performance and it’s refreshing to see her in this type of role. While the film manages to remain suspenseful throughout, it may leave some with much to be desired.
k is "meh" onUmmainteresting topic but it was a bit boring, predictable & not vv scary. nonetheless, i thought the focus on breaking generational curses, overcoming trauma & reconnecting w ur culture was interesting. it worked well alongside the horror aspects of the movie

GENAI likedUmmaA very unique and grounded approach to a ghost story. Good acting, good effects, good writing. Didn’t rely on a big flashy climax, and kept true to the energy they set up.

The film bizarrely takes what could have been a touching and powerful drama about the traumatic family ties that bind (and occasionally choke) and attempts to refit it as a straightforward, if mostly low-key horror exercise chock-full of scenes involving various things popping up out of the darkness with numbing regularity.
